Banner Introduces R50 Zero Pressure Accumulation Control Modules
The R50 control modules for conveyor zone control feature two modes of operation. The zero pressure accumulation mode enables uniform product spacing, while the slug release mode enables a continuous product stream.
Banner Engineering has recently launched the R50 zero pressure accumulation control module, a compact, plug-and-play controller that offers users zone logic control for conveyor systems. The new solution comes with built-in support for both zero pressure accumulation and slug release modes. It works with any 24 V DC-powered conveyor zones, including gear motors, motor rollers, and air clutches, regardless of the brand, ensuring application in a range of industries.

R50 Zero Pressure Accumulation Control Modules
The new R50 module is designed to eliminate complexity in conveyor zone control. It features 4-pin M12 connectors for quick installation and has two operational modes: zone pressure accumulation (ZPA) and slug release.
The ZPA mode enables a zone to operate independently, gently handling the movement of mixed-sized products by maintaining a consistent gap and only allowing the item to advance when the downstream zone is clear. The slug release mode allows every zone to move at the same time, bypassing sensor control to quickly clear long backlogs and maximize output during peak demand cycles.
This dual-mode design flexibility provides users with the ability to instantly choose between optimizing control for precise product spacing or achieving the maximum speeds in conveyor operation. The mode of operation is determined by applying a signal to pin 4 for ZPA or pin 2 for slug release.

Conveyor Zone Control
With a fully sealed design, the R50 control module is protected against moisture and dust in industrial environments, making it suitable for use in packaging lines, manufacturing, distribution centers, e-commerce fulfillment centers, and warehouse floors. The module is compatible with 24 V DC conveyor systems that use discrete signals for start/stop conveyor zone control.
The R50 is equipped with LED indicators on both sides, making instant verification of operational status and diagnostic data easily visualized, regardless of the mounting orientation. When it comes to installation, the unit comes in a compact 50 mm form factor that works well with space-constrained conveyor frames. It also features a configuration-free setup, eliminating downtime during line expansion and upgrades.

Advancing Conveyor Systems
As the demand for modular, low-code automation grows, companies are increasingly adopting solutions like Banner’s R50 control module that eliminate the need for a custom program that consumes time. Banner's new solution delivers immediate zone intelligence, shortening deployment time. This reduction in deployment time, with its modular plug-and-play design, makes the new control module a suitable choice for those seeking automation solutions for quick system retrofits, commissioning, and adaptable material handling and conveyor system upgrades.
