Companies across the industrial sector are facing the challenge of increasing productivity while adhering to environmental regulations. That means rethinking legacy software for many. These older systems weren’t built to handle today’s data-intensive demands. The need for smarter tools that support sustainability and optimize operations has become a necessity.

Emerson’s newly launched version of its AspenTech software introduces a powerful suite of upgrades that aims to modernize how plants operate, from planning and design to energy management and emissions tracking. The software integrates industrial AI features to enhance ease of use and embed sustainability directly into the workflow.

AspenTech Version 15 With Industrial AI

One of the main features of AspenTech version 15 is its use of industrial AI. AspenTech utilizes AI as part of its Aspen OptiPlant 3D Layout tool to create digital layout options to meet operational needs. Users now have access to a variety of different plant designs with just a few inputs, whether it’s adjusting for safety protocols, engineering constraints, or cost considerations.

The Aspen Virtual Advisor tool also uses AI to help users interpret model results and suggest next steps, giving engineers actionable insights without requiring them to be AI experts. This is a big step forward for companies that want to harness AI but lack the in-house resources to build or manage custom solutions.

A Sustainable Supply Chain

Emerson has also taken strides toward making sustainability practical and measurable. AspenTech v15 comes with more than 175 ready-to-use models focused on decarbonization and resource efficiency. These can be directly applied to projects involving plastics recycling, circular economy workflows, and even green hydrogen production.

The update also enhances the Aspen Supply Chain Planner. It’s now equipped with tools to forecast and visualize emissions across a company’s entire value chain. With clearer insight into where emissions originate, companies can take targeted action, whether that means switching suppliers, adjusting processes, or revamping logistics.

Smarter Utilities and Subsurface Operations

AspenTech v15 introduces Cimphony Network Model Management for utility companies, a system that simplifies the maintenance of complex power grid models. It supports the Common Information Model (CIM) standard and provides a data-driven approach to managing system models more efficiently. This is especially relevant as grids become more dynamic and data-heavy.

Meanwhile, subsurface science teams can now use the AspenTech Subsurface Intelligence Beta platform. It’s cloud-native and designed to break down silos between departments. The AI-enhanced workflows can help geoscientists, engineers, and analysts work together more effectively, accelerating decision-making and improving operational agility.

An Intuitive User Experience

Emerson has also put a significant focus on AspenTech’s usability. The interface has been refined for clarity, workflows have been improved, and integrations across tools have been tightened. Tools like AspenTech Grid Apps, a web-based platform, and new online deployment options for Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS bring flexibility and accessibility to users at every level. These changes are designed to make complex tools feel more approachable so teams can spend less time navigating software and more time solving problems.

As companies face growing pressure to modernize while cutting emissions, AspenTech v15 offers a tangible solution. It blends industrial AI with intuitive design and sustainability capabilities. It’s a timely release designed to give industries a real chance to turn digital transformation from a buzzword into measurable progress.
