Epson Announces Market Availability of New GX-B Series SCARA Robots

January 17, 2024 by Bob Odhiambo

After revealing the GX-B SCARA robot series, Epson has recently announced the availability of the newest lineup of these high-speed robots for advanced precision automation.

SCARA robots, or ‘selective compliance assembly robot arms,’ are designed as a precision solution for automated processes that require high levels of accuracy in their handling, but are also able to achieve incredible cycle speeds. With a wide range of advanced robotic arm features, SCARA robots are used in precision and material handling applications in industries like electronics, aerospace, food processing, medical devices, and consumer electronics.

In a recent announcement, Epson Robotics, a global leader in precise factory automation, has made its latest high-power-density GX-B Series SCARA robots available, after an official product launch in late October of 2023. Offering flexibility in application and performance, the GX10B and GX20B models are now available through Epson Robotics' distribution partners.

The Advanced GX-B Series

Equipped with the latest in safety and optimal performance features, Epson's GX-B Series SCARA robots offer advanced solutions for various automation needs. The two latest models in the series, the GX10B and GX20B, can handle high payloads of up to 10 and 20 kg respectively, making them versatile for a wide application range. Advanced OPC UA for robotics connectivity offers next-level integration and monitoring, making it ready for installation in data-intensive Industry 4.0 applications. For flexible mounting, the robot series comes in optimized footprints and a longer Z axis.

The smooth connection of the GX-B Series robots with the Epson RC+ industrial automation development software makes programming easier. Quick settling times, smooth motion control, and high production speeds are made possible by advanced GYROPLUS technology. These robots have a lower total cost of ownership than many comparable models due to the battery-less encoders and lack of recurring software license costs, making them a desirable option for companies and even for educational institutions.

There is a wide range of application-specific demands for SCARA robots, including mounting direction, z-axis length, IP rating, and others, leading Epson to deliver a highly customizable array of specific models for each payload series. This allows the robots to be used across environments while maintaining a single software application for many end uses.
