Faster, Better Security, and More Efficient. OTTO Gives Their AMRs an Upgrade.
OTTO has released a new software update that has given their Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) a software upgrade to enable faster and more efficient performance while providing enhanced authentication security measures.
OTTO, a leading company in autonomous material handling and a subsidiary of Clearpath Robotics, which was acquired by Rockwell Automation in late 2023, has introduced the most recent update for their autonomous mobile robots (AMR). The Version 2.32 update, which was released on October 8th, includes notable improvements to their AMRs, such as increased speed, enhanced security features, and upgraded traffic control capabilities.

So, What’s Special About Version 2.32?
With the release of the Version 2.32 update, customers will benefit from an advanced security framework when deploying OTTO’s Autonomous Mobile Robots. This update reinforces the commitment of both OTTO and Rockwell Automation to bolstering security measures, as stated by Jay Judkowitz, Vice President of Product at OTTO. "In this latest update, we're excited to introduce faster deliveries and additional authentication options to our customers." The OTTO App has been augmented to include robust user authentication processes, ensuring that only authorized users can access the controls. This is achieved by verifying user login credentials and cross-referencing them with the OTTO Fleet Manager to validate control access rights.
In congested areas, robots will be able to perform better thanks to faster operation. For example, when unloading a payload that overhangs from OTTO's Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR), the advanced sensing technology will automatically adjust the AMR's remote LiDAR safety scanner. This adjustment will allow the AMR to move more freely and achieve up to twice the average speed for the OTTO 1500. Additionally, OTTO's AMRs will include a new Yield Line function designed to eliminate stop-and-go actions at intersections. This will enable continuous movement when no obstacles are detected, ultimately optimizing operational efficiency.
OTTO’s Full Lineup of Autonomous Mobile Robots
OTTO's current lineup features four distinct models of AMRs, namely the OTTO 100, OTTO 600, OTTO 1200, and OTTO 1500. Additionally, they offer the OTTO lifter, an autonomous forklift designed to meet a diverse set of material handling needs. These models are meticulously tailored to accommodate various payload capacities, including 100 kg, 600 kg, 1200 kg, and 1900 kg, while delivering impressive travel speeds ranging from 1.4 m/s to 2 m/s while keeping operators safe with the use of high-quality LiDARs, 3D cameras, and safety switches. OTTO has even taken battery life into consideration, using their opportunistic charging algorithm, which sends the AMR to charge in between jobs to ensure the maximum daily life of each AMR.

With the capabilities and safety that OTTO provides, these AMRs can be used in a wide variety of industries ranging from the automotive industry to carry components from station to station or transporting items from freezers to packing in the food and beverage industry.
