HIWIN Brings Integrated Motion and Robotics to PACK EXPO
HIWIN’s PACK EXPO booth demos included high-speed, precise, and flexible packaging applications, bringing attention to the company’s extensive lineup of motion systems, servo drives, and robots.
Every motion that occurs within an industrial facility, from the smallest belt adjustments to the largest high-speed robot arms, must be both fast and precise. Any sort of misalignment, vibration, or delay can negatively affect production quality and uptime. HIWIN, a manufacturer of motion devices, both individual components and systems, was well equipped to display its power at PACK EXPO in Las Vegas.
HIWIN Linear Motion Components
HIWIN has a reputation in the packaging industry as an expert in motion control building blocks: linear guideways, ball screws, ball splines, linear axes, motors, and complete multi-axis motion assemblies. These components are the foundation upon which higher-level systems are built. Virtually every machine on the PACK EXPO floor was equipped with many moving parts that require these reliable building blocks.

In one example, HIWIN’s linear gantry design is used to detect and press illuminated pushbuttons to show how the motion parts catalog can scale into machine modules.
Servo Motors and Drive Systems
On the servo side, HIWIN offers high‑performance AC servo motors, direct‑drive torque motors, and controllers tailored to coordinate complex motion in packaging operations. Servo systems must be optimized for precision, speed, and compactness, since many applications cannot afford extra bulky space from poorly designed motion assemblies.
In the booth, HIWIN staged a number of servo‑driven test axes to illustrate the key parameters while giving a working demonstration. Acceleration, deceleration, and load handling are all important for closed-loop motion control profiles in linear axes like these.

Articulated and SCARA Robots
HIWIN has also embedded its mastery of motion devices into one of the most popular types of motion assemblies throughout industry: the robot. HIWIN’s articulated 6-axis robots offer exceptional reach, payload, and repeatability suited to packaging tasks (pick & place, part handling, tool manipulation). More recently, HIWIN has launched a welding robot package, particularly suitable for metal manufacturing applications.

HIWIN’s SCARA offerings are also a solid part of the company’s robot lineup. These robots are compact and very fast, making them a great fit for part extraction, sorting, or small-part packaging tasks. HIWIN’s robots can be linked with 3D vision for packaging tasks like inspection, sorting by various qualities, and distribution. HIWIN’s coupling of motion components and robotic assemblies truly leads to a reliable product lineup, verified by decades of experience.
HIWIN Moves the Industry Forward
HIWIN’s booth at the PACK EXPO show clearly demonstrated that the needs of the packaging automation industry are well met when motion, control, and robotics all come together in harmony rather than in isolated assemblies. Motion products deliver the precision and durability; servo systems bring the dynamic, feedback-driven control; and robots deliver the flexible completion of complex handling tasks. For the packaging industry, this cohesive blend is not just a convenience, it’s an essential part of ensuring high throughput and exceptional quality demanded in today’s fast‑changing production environment.
