Oriental Motor Presents Integrated Motion and Robot Controls at PACK EXPO
Oriental Motor highlighted motors, robots, and servo controllers at PACK EXPO in Las Vegas, showing how unified motion systems will be used to drive flexible and efficient packaging automation.
Oriental Motor presented a comprehensive booth at the recent PACK EXPO in Las Vegas, displaying motion control systems, robot technology, and servo electronics to meet the packaging needs of machine builders and packaging engineers alike. Drawing from the company’s long expertise, motion was the central focus of the displays across the booth.

DC and Stepper Motors
At the heart of all demonstrations was the lineup of brushless DC and stepper motors for which Oriental Motors is well known. One demo paired a compact high‑efficiency brushless motor with a belt conveyor, showing how stable speed could be maintained under changes in load or line stoppages.

The conveyor line was loaded with carriages, each of which contained a heavy weight. The belt conducted a number of motion operations with carefully controlled parameters, even under harsh load conditions.
OVR Robot Series
Along with the individual motor products, the booth featured robot systems built around Oriental Motor’s own motor lines. The OVR series is primarily available in pre-packaged arrangements with a variety of payloads and reach capacities. During one of Oriental Motor’s pre-scheduled demonstrations, a robot motor was removed and replaced, then calibrated and resumed operation in just a few minutes.

The robotics display illustrated how motion modules and robot arms can be tied together to adapt to varied packaging use cases. Two robots coordinated their motion to simulate a pick-and-place system that hands off products to a second robot.
Motor Controllers
To drive both the motors and robots, Oriental Motor produces in-house servo controllers and drive electronics. These controllers were shown in the robot cell as well as in various motion demonstrations. Custom dashboards provide data as well as allowing for the tuning of acceleration, deceleration, torque limits, and feedback parameters. The controllers can report motor current, temperature, and performance metrics in real time.
Motion for the Future of the Packaging Industry
Looking ahead, motion control in packaging follows the same trends as most other applications across industry: speed and accuracy. Robots, and the motors that drive them, will need to respond to constant variations, running efficiently and with equal accuracy across broad duty ranges. The control systems will, likewise, require more ease in commissioning and programming.

In packaging environments where flexibility, efficiency, and compactness are critical, the combination of robot and motion control will determine the future success of any system. Oriental Motor’s exhibit proves to attendees that future development is not in isolated devices and modules, but in systems where motors, robot actuation, and servo control cooperate to the benefit of packaging and logistics operations.
