Drive Control Portfolio Expansion

The latest features of the recently updated F6 drive controllers cater to high-performance applications. These drives are now available in a high-speed version, giving output frequencies up to 2,000 Hz and switching frequencies up to 16 kHz. These high output frequencies allow the drive to control motors at very high speeds, which is essential for applications that require precise and rapid motor control to function efficiently. Higher switching frequencies can lead to smoother motor operation and reduced noise. This is particularly beneficial in sensitive environments or applications where noise reduction is crucial.

In addition to a high-speed version of the F6, KEB has added peak power drives to its F6 product lineup. These drives have higher nominal output overloads and increased software and overcurrent limits. They can handle higher loads for short periods without overheating or shutting down. This feature is handy in applications with sudden demand spikes, ensuring the system remains stable and operational.

DC Connectivity

KEB has also launched product functionalities within its F6 and S6 drive portfolio to meet market demand. One of the added features is DC connectivity. DC connections allow efficient energy transfer between inverters, especially during braking processes. This means energy generated when a machine slows down can be reused, leading to significant energy savings and reduced peak loads. Using DC connections also reduces the need for AC components such as chokes and filters, making installing the system simpler.

CAN Cross-Communication

Another one of the added functionalities is CAN cross-communication. This new firmware allows for quicker communication between drives. This is useful for tasks requiring precise control and coordination between multiple devices. CAN cross-communication enables drives to exchange information directly with each other. They then bypass the need to go through a central controller or other Fieldbus systems. This direct transfer reduces latency and improves data transfer speed, allowing for precise adjustments. Users can also work with various process data parameters such as torque, position, and speed. This allows manufacturing plants to choose the specific data they need for particular applications.

Drive Controller Dashboard

KEB is also introducing a dashboard package to its COMBIVIS 6 software tool, an add-on used with KEB drive controllers. This new dashboard will provide a user-friendly interface to check the status of drive controllers, making it easier to monitor and manage the system. Users will also be able to easily see what type of application parameterization is running on the drive, aiding in an understanding of how the drive is configured and operating. The dashboard will give users real-time data, with the current input/output signal status visible.

The dashboard package will be installed through the package installation feature of the COMBIVIS 6 tool, making it accessible and straightforward to set up. These new functionalities show KEB's commitment to providing its customers with products to keep its manufacturing facilities processing at an ultimate efficiency.
