Omron has expanded its industrial automation portfolio with the S8NR IP67 power supply and VHV5-SRV Barcode Verification System. Designed to simplify machine design while improving production visibility, the new solutions reduce control-panel wiring, provide field-mountable power distribution, and enable continuous inline verification of 1D, 2D, and direct-part-mark codes. Together, they help manufacturers improve system reliability, streamline installation, and strengthen product traceability across food, pharmaceutical, and industrial production environments.

Omron’s S8NR IP67 power supply solution also features LED display status indicator visuals, IO Link comms for remote parameter setting and monitoring, and a choice of models (90 W/360 W/600 W) to suit different application requirements.

For control engineers, a streamlined, minimalist control panel with essential wiring components is important for minimizing potential errors (caused by overly complex, messy wiring connections) and the time spent on installation. A more bare-bones control panel means lower installation and maintenance costs too. Push-in and/or modular systems offer a labor-saving method for setup. According to Omron, the company’s Push-in Plus technology allows customers to wire their control panels up to 60% faster than with traditional screw block terminals. Modular setups also provide a more efficient way to reorganize control panels to meet specific system requirements without costly, time-consuming cabinet redesign.

Omron is actively working to help its customers minimize labor and panel modification with the introduction of a space–saving, field-mountable power supply, the S8NR IP67. The IP67 ingress protection (IP) rating offers protection against dust and water ingress when submerged under water, temporarily.

The S8NR IP67 is designed to mount directly onto machines, reducing wiring distance and complexity. Smartclick M12 connectivity reduces point-to-point wiring and standardizes cable connections. Power circuit status is monitored via a digital display (no measurements required), capturing replacement alerts, output current, output voltage, and remaining current. The S8NR provides DC power to multiple devices while providing modifiable electronic circuit protection.

Omron’s VHV5-SRV

Omron has developed an innovative in-line verifier, the VHV5-SRV Barcode Verification System, that enables users to assess product barcode quality while maintaining high-throughput inspection.

The VHV5-SRV is designed to withstand the harshest of industrial environments and those requiring a high degree of sanitization, such as the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries. A rating of IP69K is the highest level, conferring the ability to withstand high-pressure (80-100 bar) water jets, water at high temperature (80°C), and dust-tightness.

The VHV5-SRV uses an X-mode decoder, provides three in and out I/O ports, a red light source, supports Ethernet TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET, and features a high-performance multicore processor (with an NPU for AI). To put this into context, it leverages a processing capacity 13 times that of the microHAWK. GS1 syntax and data format requirements are supported, along with verification of ISO/IEC 15416, ISO/IEC 15415, and ISO/IEC TR 29158.

One of the key benefits of this system for designers, production managers, and engineers is the capacity to bring together a reader and verifier in one system. Manufacturers can replace/upgrade readers to ensure consistent high-speed label reads and also add the verifier function at the same time.

Taken together, these latest innovations from Omron are poised to help reduce control panel complexity for control engineers, save space for manufacturers, and enhance the consistency of quality and traceability of products and materials as they pass through the production process.
