Portable Leak Detection: Fluke Releases Mobile ii01 Acoustic Camera

Fluke has added the ii01 Acoustic Camera to its iSee mobile imaging series. The compact device helps maintenance teams find compressed air and gas leaks, check airtightness, and identify wasted energy. It connects to an Android smartphone or tablet using USB-C, enabling users to view acoustic data and share inspection results.

A 2 kHz to 48 kHz Detection Range to Find Hidden Leaks

The Fluke iSee Mobile ii01 Acoustic Camera uses 16 precise MEMS microphones to pick up sounds and find their sources. With Fluke’s SoundMap technology, technicians can see where the sound is coming from on a visual display. Because gas and compressed-air leaks are often hard to spot, Fluke says this tool helps technicians find leaks faster and move quickly to fix them.

The ii01 can detect sounds from 2 kHz to 48 kHz, making it useful for detecting sounds from compressed-air leaks and checking airtightness. This wide range lets technicians work in different settings and with various equipment. For leak detection, there is a special leak mode that works best around 40 kHz and can be turned on with one tap. The camera also shows real-time dB values at the center point, giving technicians another way to measure and record sound sources.

The ii01 can detect sounds from about 0.5 m up to more than 20 m away. Its 50° by 38° field of view lets technicians inspect a wide area at once. This helps maintenance staff check more equipment, such as machines, pipelines, or compressed-air systems, during their first inspection.

A Mobile-First Tool for Maintenance Technicians

A key feature of the ii01 is its mobile-first design. It weighs just 50 g and connects to an Android phone or tablet via a USB-C connection. Fluke says it is plug-and-play, so there is no complicated setup. Technicians can use their own devices instead of a separate display. The ii01’s small size makes it easy to carry between machines and inspection points, which helps technicians who need to do many checks around a plant or facility.

The ii01 does more than just find sound sources. When connected to the Fluke iSee app, it also helps with inspection documentation. Users can take photos and videos right on their Android device, with videos up to five minutes long. Results can be shared for reports or follow-up work. This means technicians can record and share findings as part of the same process, making it easier to show supervisors and other team members where and what the problem is.

By offering professional acoustic diagnostics in a simple, portable tool, the ii01 stands in as a potential go-to solution for regular inspections, like checking pipelines for gas leaks, testing airtightness, and inspecting industrial pneumatic equipment.
