Maxon Highlights Modular Drive Systems for Food, Bev, and Material Handling

Motors and motion control are among the most crucial components of any packaging automation solution. Maxon’s PACK EXPO booth delivered flexible, reliable motion devices for industry applications.

At PACK EXPO, global motion control specialist maxon emphasized the need for capable, flexible motor solutions in the industrial packaging sector, placing a strong emphasis on the bond between maxon’s motors and the Parvalux gearmotor line.

Taking the main spotlight at maxon’s booth was the new Parvalux modular motor series, a range of brushless motors, gearboxes, controllers, and configurable accessories like brakes and encoders. This modular offering, launched earlier in 2025, enables OEMs and systems integrators to quickly prototype and deploy drive systems tailored to specific torque, speed, and voltage requirements. The modularity also simplifies integration, helping reduce engineering time and total cost of ownership.

The Modular Industry Focus

Modularity is a word that seems to be thrown around quite a bit these days, but it definitely deserves its place in the spotlight.

There are only three main options when it comes to products. A limited selection of standard configurations, custom designs for any unusual order, or this intentional design that allows a wide range of parts to be fit alongside any other parts, creating a nice mixture of standard stocked parts in customized configurations. This final category includes modules that can mix-and-match to design the perfect setup.

At the maxon booth, this modularity was illustrated with three motor setups, including the newest model featuring a frameless motor, embedded controller, and right-angle gear drive. The other motors contained configurations of stepper motors and outer-rotating brushless motors, clearly showing the wide range of options in the maxon product catalog.

The Integration Challenge

It’s not enough to offer robust hardware, although that is very important. To cover design challenges, maxon highlighted an online configuration tool, which lets users input design requirements and build a complete drive package immediately. This system works with the entire motor, drive, and gearhead portfolio to ensure that designs can move from specs to prototype as quickly as possible.

Along with hardware solutions, maxon also makes use of a global engineering support system and design services to assist OEMs in building motion systems that are both flexible and scalable.

Modular Drives for Modular Automation

Maxon’s booth at PACK EXPO highlighted the important role that motors play throughout all of industrial automation. Nearly every project involves rigorous demands of customization, quick time-to-market, and application-specific performance. With the Parvalux line of industrial modular drives, maxon is delivering a clear message: effective machine building is a combination of reliable hardware, design tools, and assistance from a company that truly knows and understands motors and motion control systems.
