Phoenix Contact Launches New Line of Power Supplies for Commercial Use

December 27, 2023 by Shawn Dietrich

Phoenix Contact announced the release of a new, cost-effective line of power supplies with basic power functionality. The ESSENTIAL POWER line of power supplies is designed for commercial industries.

Selecting the right power supply is important during the design phase, but choosing an expensive power supply isn't always the best option if features go unused. Phoenix Contact's newest line of power supplies serves as a lower-cost alternative with fewer features.

DC Power Supplies

In virtually any control cabinet, there is a 24 VDC power supply. This device takes incoming high voltage, such as 120 VAC, and converts it to filtered 24 VDC voltage. Most sensors and automation devices will use DC voltage and typically have a range of 10-30 VDC. Using a power supply ensures a constant supply of clean power to all compatible automation devices.

Industrial vs Commercial Applications

When building industrial equipment, designers and programmers need to ensure equipment will have as much uptime as possible. Components with many features are typically integrated into the system to achieve this uptime. The commercial market requires more stripped-down devices to reduce costs that would otherwise be transferred to the consumer.

ESSENTIAL Power Supplies

Phoenix Contact’s newest line of power supplies, ESSENTIAL POWER, is specifically designed for the commercial market. The ESSENTIAL power supplies are a cost-effective power solution with a basic 24 V output. All models are UL-listed and CE-approved and meet the IEC 61588-2-16 safety transformer standard. While exact specifications haven’t been released, Phoenix Contact promises that its new lineup will have a wide operating temperature and come in many different input models.

Cost-effective Power Functionality

The new ESSENTIAL POWER line of power supplies from Phoenix Contact is specifically designed for markets more concerned with cost than fancy features. While advanced features can give users greater detail into how a device performs, some industries, such as solar cell production, building automation, or consumer automation, do not require this level of insight.
