WERMA Expands MC Beacon Series To Include Touch and Smart Functions

WERMA, a German company specializing in developing and manufacturing industrial signal technology, has announced the expansion of its MC product family. The MC series consists of multicolor LED installation beacons. The MC55 Touch and MC55 Touch Smart are the series’ newest arrivals.

WERMA MC Series Beacon Lights

WERMA's MC series LED installation beacons are offered in two sizes: the MC35 and the MC55. The MC35 features a 35 mm diameter, and the MC55 features a 55 mm diameter for applications requiring larger LED light fixtures. The larger MC55 now comes with a touch version and smart options, giving users a wider range of functionalities.

The MC series includes IP69K-level protection and UL approval for use in harsh industrial environments. A 50,000-hour service lifespan gives the beacons a long, useful lifespan that helps to reduce maintenance concerns over incandescent options. A 360-degree visibility range ensures clear and consistent signaling from all angles, enhancing safety and communication in industrial environments by providing an unobstructed alert to workers and operators throughout the area.

Both the MC35 and the MC55 beacons offer users seven individual colors. The colors are all available in a single light and include a variety of colors, including red, green, and turquoise. Tri-color options are available for applications that require this type of configuration, and all lights feature loud acoustics for alarm options or alternative signaling.

Smart Software and Touch Function

The MC series now includes two new models: the MC55 Touch and MC55 Touch Smart. Both beacons feature smart functions such as status changes by touch, signal acknowledgment, and time-based escalation modes.

The MC55 Touch introduces a feature with three predefined colors: red, yellow, and green. This color variety means users can trigger a pulse signal via touch for feedback to a control system.

The MC55 Touch Smart offers full customization through software, enabling users to adjust colors, light patterns, and tone types. With the MC55 Touch Smart, users can also use two output modes: pulse signal or 24 V switching.

The MC55 Touch Smart provides extended functionalities that can be easily customized using WERMA's intuitive configuration software. Users can define various signaling modes, illuminated images, tones, and time-controlled escalations, with up to two escalation levels per status.

Machine Monitoring and Indication

The new MC55 smart versions offer a range of versatile applications. For example, the MC55 Touch can trigger visual and audible alarms in the event of a machine failure, allowing operators to acknowledge the alarm by touching the device and sending a feedback signal to the control system. It can also start or stop machine cycles with an operator touch, providing feedback to the control system.

The MC55 Touch also allows for the direct control of peripheral devices, switching up to 200 mA. In cases of defined events, such as a conveyor belt coming to a standstill, the device can trigger a red warning light, and if there is no response, an acoustic signal will activate after a set time to increase attention to the issue.
