What happened to GE-Cisco and industrial ethernet designs

Good Question!!!!

GE-Cisco was always pushed by the GE-Fanuc reps in the machine tool industry, I wonder if they rolled them up under the Ge-Fanuc umbrella.

Not sure what happened to GE/Cisco but Cisco/Rockwell has some things going per the press release headline.

"MILWAUKEE, Nov. 18, 2002 - Rockwell Automation announced today that Cisco Systems is the most recent company to join the Rockwell Automation EncompassTM Program - as a global partner supporting Ethernet on the factory floor. "

Not surprising since Siemens and Schneider Electric both sell high-$$$ switches in competition to Cisco, but Rockwell is still available to partner with. With Rockwell's push of Ethernet/IP and Class D multi-cast, field performance is going to be very extreme between people who used the right switched and those who did not.
