Spread exhaust temp trip for GE Gas turbine
You have 3 Spreads, TTXSP1/2/3. SP1 is difference between highest and lowest TC, SP2 is difference between highest and 2nd lowest and SP3 is difference between highest and 3rd lowest. So the failed TC should not show up in SP2 & 3. A. Exhaust Thermocouple Trouble Alarm (L30SPTA) If any...

Turbine Power Generation Reduced
Do you mean P3 pressure/GCV Discharge pressure? This is really demand related and will constantly change depending on load output and Air Inlet Temp. When you say the pressure increased, did the load increase?

Turbine Power Generation Reduced
Yes, high humidity can be the problem, especially on Donaldson filters, that's why I asked. What exactly was the CPD readings, was it the same at the reduced output or a bit less. I've seen humidity getting the filters wet and losing around 10% output until the filters dry out when the air gets...

Turbine Power Generation Reduced
Can you tell us what kind of filters you have, self cleaning (Donaldson Type) or standard triple element? Do you have CPD readings and Filter Diff. pressure readings before and after? From experience, high humidity (fog, etc) will cause much bigger pressure drops across the filters hence...

Spare Wiring at the Marshaling Cabinet
I think CSA sums this up, it depends on what regulations apply. For Zone 1 all spares must be terminated in a junction box on a terminal rail. I'm not so keen on just leaving them taped up in the bottom of the panel, people step in there etc and the cables get dirty and damaged. Most marshalling...

GE MARK5 CONTROL SYSTEM
Great answer CSA, the only problem is we would both be 20 years younger if we hadn't spent so much time chasing ground faults!! Merry Christmas to all.

GE MS5001M Torque Converter Dropping Out Prematurely
Do you have a diesel engine Lube Oil Pressure switch something like 63QD? this can be faulty and will cause the diesel to drop to cooldown. Have you checked the clutch limit switch, although you say you forced the clutch, it's just a second thought.

Exhaust Temperature Spread MS5002D Gas Turbine
Pretty well you are going to do some serious and expensive damage to this machine if you keep running it as it is. I know it can be difficult to convince management to allow a shut down but sometimes financial arguments can be best. Inform them of the potential damage in writing and get them to...

Voltage Drops When Load Increases
I'm afraid it looks like your AVR has died. There is really not much more you can do but try to get it repaired or replaced.

Low Seismic Vibration vs High Displacement on Bearing 1 of PGT10 Gas Turbine
Thanks for the detailed reply. It kind of looks like you still have some imbalance. Really it would take a further trim balance to be sure. Although your running level is higher than before the MI, you could live with it with some careful monitoring. If you load up more, what happens?

Low Seismic Vibration vs High Displacement on Bearing 1 of PGT10 Gas Turbine
Sure looks like you have developed some kind of problem. 1) What is the bearing Temp.? 2) Can you put a vibration analyzer on the bearing and see what the predominant frequency of the vibration is? This will at least give us a guide to whether this is unbalance or alignment. When did...

88HQ Gas Turbine GE 5002C
Good answer CSA but 1) They did say that they had tried the system without filters and still had the same problem?? 2) Do remember the Aux. Hyd. pump usually doesn't have a pressure regulator, it just runs flat out. I reckon you are right CSA, I think there is a blockage in the...

88HQ Gas Turbine GE 5002C
There is something a bit strange here, the 88HQ discharge pressure should only be around 75 Bar. are you sure VPR22 is not dumping because of over pressure? have you looked at VPR22 dump? I think that may be the noise in the Accy. Compt. If your system is not coupled to your compressor yet, do...

88HQ Gas Turbine GE 5002C
Have you tried adjusting VR22, the relief valve for the Aux. Hydraulic pump? Are you sure the problem is not coming from the Main Hyd. pump? Just guessing but the vibration from the Aux. compartment is suspicious. Try to Crank the machine and shut down the Aux. Hydraulic pump. if the...

Frame 6B Gas Turbine Failed To Ignite
Hi Cris, One thing you didn't tell us is what is your main HP Fuel Pressure? and what are the individual nozzle pressures when trying to ignite? also you didn't tell us if the fuel pump clutch (20CF) is energized (needs 20FL open (33FL) + fuel pressure (63FL)).

Provision of Auxiliary Hydraulic Pump
For sure these nylon couplings do wear out. It is a little strange that you are getting less life after the first time replacement. Are you sure that you are replacing the new coupling correctly and the alignment is OK? Five years seems a bit short, I would have expected a bit more like 10 years.
