Yeah, the cosmic ray thing. It's that fall back position for "who knows why it failed?". Blame it on cosmic rays. It wouldn't be a programming bug that never accounted for a cold start in the absence of a valid persistent direction variable, which maybe was battery-backed with a dead battery?

Is the RO treatment so good that the processed water does not have enough conductivity for the proper operation of the installed magmeter? The Siemens mag flowmeter spec sheet on my desk states it needs a minimum 10uS/cm conductivity.
