Indirect method of Equipment Running Feedback

Is there any logic that Steam Turbine Manufacturers sometimes use indirect signal like Pressure Switch/Pressure Transmitter for Equipment running feedback?
The operators are in the blind condition when the PS/PT not in resetting condition to know which equipment is running?
