Hi all,
is there anybody can help me out to find some manuals for ABB Advant OCS.

We have list of manuals for AC450, AC160, OS, ES, IMS, Advant network and solution summaries. but those are out of date, I mean are not latest.

Because i am trying to find some info on Some PC blocks (e.g.OP-Sel(0), OP-IN, AUTO-IN, ASE-CMD, ASE-FB, VIS2PB etc.) used in type circuits which are not on PC element manual or on APC manuals, so I am assuming those blocks could be new and old manuals doesn't have them explained.

Are they available on ABB website, if yes can you send me the URL, and is it requires any logon/ PW?

Thanks

Hi Will,

The Official source for ABB manuals is the "Solutions Bank". -> http://solutionsbank.abb.com/SLH/home.aspx

To access this site you need some form of support contract from ABB. Contact your local ABB office if you don't have one.

There are some other unofficial sources, but I don't have copies that I can give you.

Unfortunately, I don't think these are new function blocks but, as you know, they are non-standard APC modifications to the AC450. AC450 software has not changed very much in recent years. If they are not in your existing manuals I would be surprised if they are in the newer versions.

The other alternative is that these may be User Defined PC elements (UDPCE) which are project specific.

In both cases, the descriptions of these elements *should* have been supplied to you as part of the project delivery documentation. You may wish to follow this up directly with your local ABB agent and get them to supply you with a copy of the relevant documentation.

Could it be that they are custom blocks that have been created specifically for your site or are part of a industry package? I know that ABB sell "Pulp & Paper" libraries that have specific blocks and graphic models that suit that industry. They have separate manuals for those blocks that aren't part of the "normal" block list.

You could discuss the matter with ABB and tell them the project number. They will have all the manuals, drawings etc on file so you could get a copy from them. You might need to ask nicely and having a direct contact within ABB helps (their helpdesk is not great for stuff like that).

I know for the paper machine I worked on which had AC450 controllers with custom blocks that we had a separate folder which had all the functional descriptions and block diagrams for the internal logic. Without those functional specs it makes troubleshooting very hard if not impossible.

Good luck.

Some qualified guessing here ! I've been working with APC on and off for the last ten years and I only recognize the VIS2PB block. I think these FB's are "APC light" which was used by ABB Stal in finspång for Gas turbine applications. I've only seen the APC-manuals in printed format. Today ABB's gas turbine business is owned by Siemens - try to contact them !
