Whats the difference between normal cable gland & Barrier cable gland? and also for measuring cable gland size it always in metric size or there are another units?

 

The English language can be a wonderful--and maddening--thing, sometimes at the same time.

This is one of those questions that is best answered by referring to sales brochures and catalogues. Any manufacturer that wants to sell you something will explain their products and why their products are superior to others. They will have cut-away drawings on specification sheets that will be very descriptive.

As for the nomenclature difference, I suspect a "barrier" cable gland is something that would be used in a situation where there were hazardous or explosive atmospheres to prevent gases and/or sparks from "passing through" the gland.

I just used my preferred Internet search engine and found a description of cable glands in www.wikipedia.org. I'm told that's not available in all parts of the world, but there were many other references, and many to manufacturer's websites and vendors websites.

There are cable glands for different kinds of cable, also; for example, armor-shielded cables require one type of cable gland and non-armor-shielded cables use another type of cable gland.

Use your preferred Internet search engine. If you have access to manufacturer's or vendor's catalogues and data sheets, look at them. If you are trying to purchase cable glands, work with the suppliers you normally buy products from. If they are reputable, they can provide you with options based on the information you provide.

But, it's up to you to understand the requirements of your particular situation and communicate them or use them to locate the materials which will best suit the requirements.

And, cable glands can usually be purchased in metric or inch sizes.
