ControlWiki launched

Hi all,
A while back (longer than I'd like to admit) an idea was spurred on this forum to create a specialized wiki for our industry. We've finally gotten our act together to launch it, and it may be found at controlwiki.com (as well as a few other addresses).

A few more details may be found in a press release on the new site, at http://controlwiki.com/index.php/Press:2009_09_ControlWiki_Launch (or, just go there and search for Press).

Right now it's pretty empty, but this is an invitation for our many knowledgeable contributors to this forum to start authoring pages for the wiki on specific topics relating to automation and control.

I know there may be questions as to why a separate wiki might be needed for such information. We're hoping (and planning) to work toward integrating this site with the Control.com forum, to create a more information-rich environment. We can only do this if we have some control over both sites. Some of the possibilities include cross-linkages, listings of related messages/articles, author pages (including Control.com forum member pages), etc.

I'd love to hear from any of you with your thoughts and ideas.

In the meantime, please consider contributing to the wiki. At this point, a separate (minimal) login is required, but if you use your Control.com username it will simplify integration in the future.

Regards to all,

It's good to hear that the ControlWiki is available. I think that we see a lot of repeats of the same questions over and over again with the same answers being given each time. It will now be possible to put that information in the wiki and simply point to that wiki article. Some of the power generation discussion in particular could probably benefit from that.

I think a good way for people to contribute to this is if they think they have written a particularly lucid reply on some topic that they add the material to the wiki (changing it to suit the format as appropriate).

Thanks, Michael, this is precisely what we're hoping. There is such a wealth of cogent explanation of control concepts in our archives, and our moderators often point people to old threads to help answer the questions they're posting.

By the way, you were certainly one of the inspirations for the ControlWiki, so thanks!
