Does anyone have experience implementing Delta V's new functionality of Process Zones? Looking for any good or bad experience with this new multi-system functionality. Things to watch out for, etc.

Process Zones
This feature provides the ability to interconnect DeltaV systems so that operation functions may be performed on the combined DeltaV systems from a single workstation at the same time, without requiring that the DeltaV systems undergo disruptive configuration changes. It is intended for large applications up to 300,000 DST where the entire application cannot be upgraded at one time.

 

This feature is fairly new, released with the v9.3 release of DeltaV (late 2007/early 2008). I've seen it work in a test setup but not in an actual working plant environment. As you've mentioned its intended for large DST systems, as you can implement multiple ProPlus so each database/system can be individually maintained/upgraded.

I've heard that there was an implementation of DeltaV Zones in Alberta. But I don't think the system is up and running yet.
