What is the difference in coil rating of a Solenoid operated valve (SOV) in Hazardous and safe area?

The difference in coil rating will let us know if its used in hazardous or safe location. so will be good if a few examples are quoted. its a new knowledge for me, determining the safety by coil rating...

thanks in advance.

In the US there may be no difference at all. The NEC specifically allows general purpose solenoids to be used in Class 1, Division 2 areas. In a division 1 area, it is going to probably have to exhibit an accepted protection technique such as instrinsically safe or explosion proof.

I don't know how it is where you are located. Outside of the US I would guess.

i am from India. Here IS and Explosion proof SOVs are used in hazardous area. Whereas ordinary simple (Non IS) SOV for Safe area control. And the coil ratings are different. If we can get a make which produces both these IS & Non IS SOV, then it would be easy to find out.
