Effect of Changing Range Calibration

hi
I have a differential pressure transmitter which I'm using as feedback for one close loop system.

This transmitter is calibrated for +/-.5mbar (-.5mbar=0mA and +.5mbar=20mA). But in my system i have to measure pressure between +/-.1mbar. I want to know what will be the effect on system if i calibrate the transmitter for +/- .1mbar

First, check the documentation for your particular control system.

You probably need to set up the PLC or DCS Analog Input point to match the range of your new calibration.

Since you are using a PID controller on this measurement you should verify the Max and Min range settings of the controller. Depending on the type of PLC you have you may or may not need to change the gain setting to get the loop to work. It all depends on the actual PID algorithm your particular PLC uses.

You should also bump test the control loop to verify the PID controller settings.
