Guys,

I have several Temperature transmitter in the field (0-10V or 4-20mA). I would like to bring their data into the PLC wirelessly. Each Transmitter is connected to a device say "Device-1" which can transmit the transmitter signal into the wireless message and send it to another device say "Device-2". Once the data is available in Device-2 it should be readable through MODBUS by the PLC.

The network should contain several devices Device-1 (depending on the number of transmitters) and only 1 Device-2.

Kindly recommend me the Device-1 and Device-2.

Lots of selection out there.

1) Banner Engineering calls the field radios (device-1) node radios. "Flexpower" Node radios can be DC powered or battery powered.

The central receiver radio with the Modbus output is called a Gateway radio (only one needed).

Their Performance line of radios do a full one watt in the USA.

2) Honeywell's XYR-5000 has field radios that can take a 4-20. The field radios are battery powered and in the 30mW range. But their central receiver radio with Modbus output is called a base station.

3) Phoenix Contact has multipoint-to-point DATA radios (keyword is data). The field radios are 'slave' radios and take a 4-20ma. The receiver radio is a master radio and can have Modbus output. One watt in the USA.
