Failed to ping Modbus TCP communication gateway.

can anyone help me how to diagnose the error "Failed to ping Modbus TCP communication gateway." this shows on one of our ASRS system.

Hello, and welcome to the forums!

In order to provide helpful recommendations, we're going to need more details.

What device or equipment is generating this error?

Are there additional details included with this error, perhaps found in a log file, or similar? For example, is the IP address that failed to ping included somewhere?

Do you know which specific device is the "Modbus TCP communication gateway"? If so, can you ping the device from a laptop connected to the network (and configured on the same subnet)? Can you confirm the IP address of the Modbus TCP communication gateway matches the IP address of the device or equipment that's generating the error?

Is this a new installation or was this system running successfully for a while? If it's the latter, has anything changed (configuration settings, new devices added to the network, etc.)?

Hi jschulze,
Thank you for your earnest response. our system which we called it Automatic Storage and Retrieval System is an intellistocker machine where carriers are being transported to by an Automated Robotic Vehicle and loaded to an IO Output port and thus feed onto IO input port to be taken away by a crane robot to store in a shelf. the system has two Auto IO port to pick and place a carrier in a bidirectional mode (two-way function). the affected IO port does not generate a response even when a carrier is present on the port right after barcode reads. . the system was already running successfully before only then we got this issue just recently.
