I am after a device that will output a signal for processing that will measure the surface temperature of a constantly changing level.

I have looked into infra-red devices, but was wondering if anyone had come across any floating devices/probes?

How about putting the RTD at the bottom? Or from the bottom, or from the side or whatever? What is the process - flow in a pipe, batch vessel, etc.?

 

Can it have wires - or do you want to send the signal?

Found a trinket from Thermoworks.com but is just a crappie plastic thermistor for measuring soup temperature. Am in the process of designing my own float mechanism in stainless for a custom RTD. Good luck… after scouring the web have found zippo.
