What is GE Energy and GE Oil & Gas? Are both same company or not?

GE Energy and GE Oil & Gas are both part of GE (General Electric Co.). GE Oil & Gas is actually part of GE Energy. Visit http://www.ge.com/ for more details (or perhaps more confusion).

As far as i know, GE Oil & Gas Headquarters were located at Florence, Italy (Nuovo Pignone - Firenze, Italia). I remember the reaction of Italians when the announcement was made (year 2000). Some products of Nuovo Pignone are Centrifugal Compressors, Reciprocating Compressors, Gas Turbines (generator and mechanical drivers) among others.}

The business related to GE Oil and Gas are: Nuovo Pignone, Thermodyn, AC Compressors, Rotoflow, PII, Vetco Gray, among others...

I believe that GE Oil & Gas is not part of GE Energy. But, i'm not sure.

 

Some years ago, GE invested in Nuovo Pignone, which for many years was a licensed packager (Business Associate; Manufacturing Associate) of GE gas turbines. NP sold GE-design heavy duty and aero-derivative gas turbines for years for both power generation applications as well as mechanical drive (compressor) applications around the world.

For a few years GE was a shareholder in Nuovo Pignone and it's associated businesses, but has become the majority shareholder, and, I believe has purchased the businesses outright (as much as a foreign corporation can own a business in Italy and the EU).

GE Oil & Gas is part of the larger conglomerate the world knows as GE; the "division" is just headquartered in Firenze, Italy, but still contributes to the GE corporate bottom line.

I though GE owned everything.

.....and should be refereed to as 'the GE'

 

That would be "Master GE" to most of us, or as we affectionately referred to it as employees, "The General" or "The <b>G</b>od of the <b>East</b>" (GE, get it?).

 

As a former employee I can also affectionately use the term "Good Enough"
