This author's employer has just issued a policy for posting and blogging on the Internet, and as a result of those guidelines this author will no longer be contributing to control.com. The employer is not forcing this author to cease contributions, but rather has enacted a set of guidelines which this author believes will not allow this author to continue to contribute to control.com in a meaningful way.

The development and implementation of policies like this by more companies (coming soon to your company?!?!?!!??) will make it more difficult for people to share their experiences and knowledge on forums like this. Where once this author thought this was the "wave of the future," it's now believed the "wave" is crashing on the rocks; even "anonymizer" software can eventually be traced to its origin given enough time and money--and "influence."

This author wishes to thank everyone here at control.com for their help and support when necessary--you've been great! Thanks for hosting a site where this community has grown and begun to flourish.

This author also wishes to thank everyone who's provided feedback on the replies and information and answers provided here on control.com. It's the feedback which makes providing information valuable to more than just the originator. It also helps the provider know if the information has been helpful, or was a complete miss (which has happened!). Reading some of the other posts on this, and other similar, sites one can never determine if the information provided was helpful or not. Keep the bar high, everyone--and continue to set a good example by remembering:

Feedback is the most important contribution!

If you can write to ask a question, you can write to say if the information was helpful or not; it's as simple as that.

It is sincerely hoped that the Speedtronic- and GE -design heavy duty gas turbine community will continue to grow and flourish here at control.com. There are many people here with a lot of experience and knowledge to offer (Greg Ponto, Bob Johnston, Phil Corso, P.E., and Anonymous (you know who you are!) are just some that come immediately to mind in this part of the control.com community--oh, and one who doesn't contribute often enough but whose humor was always appreciated-cww!) in this small but growing community.

Without sounding too maudlin I would like to paraphrase "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gilbran (1923):

"No man can reveal to you that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of your knowledge. But, the 'good' teacher gives freely of his wisdom leading you to the threshhold of your own mind!"

Markvguy, your employer's unwittingly diminished the brightness you brought to this forum. Unfortunately, it portends of things to come!

Even tho we disagree on vectors and the true meaning of reactive power (an oxymoron), I truly consider you a friend. Hopefully we will "meet" again.

If someone googles words as "Speedtronic" or "Mark V", we can find many threads on control.com. It was impossible two years ago, but it is the truth now. As far as I know, it is the top 1 Speedtronic and GE heavy duty gas turbine community in the world. The growth and flourishing of this community are mainly due to the valuable experience shared by markvguy. I have learned a lot of knowledge from here. Thanks markvguy.

Absence of markvguy is a BIG loss for this community, but I hope it is an opportunity for more and more people to share their experience for Speedtronic control panel and gas turbine operation and maintenance. As markvguy always said, feedback is important, we can learne of the right or wrong from it, and it is the only way to make the community to be full of energy.

 

It's a sad message for everyone who wants to and wanted to know more about GE Turbines and Speedtronic controls....

Personally, I learned a lot from your posts... Thanks indeed, for being with us for all this time.... Wish we could see more of you.... And the wish would always remain,
