Why not install linux on the old pc or laptop?
I am using open suse tumbleweed on my old pc and laptop.

When you install wine on the linux pc,
a lot of windows programs will run fine.

I use wine to run ltspice on my linux pc.

Thanks for the info! I've got an old computer running Windows 10 that can't be upgraded to Win11, everything's fine so far, but I'm a bit worried about security once support ends (though I've already made a backup). I should probably give Linux a try on it too.

 

That's actually a good suggestion. Linux can definitely give an old PC or laptop a second life, especially if Windows has become too slow on the hardware. I've heard good things about openSUSE, although I haven't spent much time using it myself. The Wine option is interesting too, since being able to run some Windows applications without installing Windows is a big advantage. How well does LTspice perform under Wine compared to running it natively on Windows? Have you experienced any compatibility issues?

LTSpice runs very well under wine on my OpenSuse pc.
