Hello to all,

Please, can you suggest me what kind of lightning protection to use in order to protect 2 wire transmitter? Transmitter is loop powered by 24 V DC.
What kind of protection do you use and what is your experience?

Thanks.

The SPD needs to be mounted as near as possible to the transmitter it is to protect and needs to be suitably protected for the enviroment it is in.

If you have a spare cable (conduit) entry on the transmitter, then there are devices that can be mounted on these and are wired in parallel across the signal wires and earthed via a local terminal. These can be certified for use in Hazardous Areas if necessary. This is the easiest/tidiest solution. If the transmitter is in some other form of enclosure, then you will need to protect the SPD with its own enclosure.

Don't forget to protect the other end of the loop (DCS/PLC I/O card).
