Mark IV Communication

Hello,

We are trying to get some information out of the Mark IV. We have a Dell laptop with a Com port, connecting to the Mark IV serial port on the HMPK Card in C Processor. The cable we are using was used before, but we do not have a pin out diagram to verify if the cable is good. Also what would be the best way to setup Hyper Terminal? Hyper Terminal says it is connected (runs the timer and says "connected"), hit "ctrl-Z" which we have been told is what start the prompt, but we are not getting any information on the screen.

The information we are trying to get is the following:
Image of the "C" sequencing logic
Image of the "RST" Sequencing logic.

Thanks,
Garrett

The cable you need to use between the notebook computer and the Mark IV is just a null modem cable, meaning that the RXD and TXD wires have to be reversed from end to end. If you're using the null modem device which was provided with the Mark IV (a small printed circuit card with a couple of 25-pin D-sub connectors and some jumpers) all you need is a straight-thru serial cable to connect the laptop to one side of the null modem device.

I believe there were some details about the connection/pin-out of the null modem device in the last revision of the Mark IV Maintenance Manual, GEK-83886, Section 9.2.

Also, if you look in the Mark IV Maintenance Manual, you will find the COM port settings (baud, data rates, number of stop bits, etc., which have all been documented in other control.com postings).

Lastly, the commands to use for downloading the file dumps of sequencing are also listed in Section 9 the Mark IV Maintenance Manual.
