NEcessecity of Ex certification

At Div 1 (Zone 1) area, there is a large junction box that contain PCB type thermocouple transmitter (for connecting several thermovouples and transmitting individual 4~20mA signal to central control panel through IS Barrier at safe area). Can the transmitter be considered just simple apparatus without Ex ia certificate?

The simple answer is NO! At least until you send a simple schematic or sketch of what is there.
1. How many of each device?
2. Parameter of each device system?
3. If not new, how long has the situation existed?

17 termocouples are interconnected to AP1100 in JB1 and RTD for AP1100 plate is also installed in the JB1 for temperature compensation.

Reply: Refer to attached wiring diagram as an example.
An AP1100 (multichannel type) and a RTD for AP1100 plate temperature compensation are installed in the JB1.
17 thermocouples are terminated to each input channel of AP1100 thermocouple transmitter.
All thermocouples and the RTD and the AP1100 have no Ex certificate and are considered as simple apparatus in their IS loop calculation without any entity parameter of them, excpet cables and IS barrier's. The length of heat compensation cable from each thermocouple to JB1 are not over than 20m and the length of multipair twisted and common and individual screend cable (1.5mm conductor size) from UCP to JB1 through JB2 is about 150m.
It was commented several weeks ago to vendor (over than 1 month) and we have yet to get an answer.

Perhaps the clash is about conductor color. In this situation the usual solution is to abide by the AHJ, or Authority Having Jurisdiction!
