Flexibility of OSISoft's PI:

We are considering using OSISoft's PI system to replace an existing SCADA and business applications related to Gas Distribution network operation and monitoring. Could you please suggest how flexible/easy it is to customise PI system for such a purpose.

Could you please point me to the related case studies / websites.

Do you need to control you gas distribution network operation? Or is it just monitoring?

From my experience, PI System is a monitoring tool without any control feature. It is a great Historian which has powerful archiving feature. SCADA system is normally expected to have more features on control. May I know what existing SCADA are you using?

PI System is quite easy to configure. There are comprehensive documentations in their technical support website which you can refer to.

Some SCADA systems I know of are Siemens WinCC, GE iFix, and Wonderware.
