Hi community!

Now i am doing investigation about how to manipulate the lot of information from field (SCADA, PCLs and others), but i would like to make the relation between the production process and the data from field and the mangers can take decisions about the process.

like the PI system .....

There are any information about that?

I think the website will have some info:

http://www.osisoft.com/

From my experience PI is a good but slightly expensive product which will aggregate data from multiple sources. This is getting easier these days with better OPC support. PI has a very extensive API and programming tools which can be used to develop in-house applications. They also can sell you other products like ProcessBook which can be used to make graphs, operator graphics etc.

You should also look for a local PI system integrator so they can run through with you exactly what products you will need to satisfy your project goals. I imagine OSI can help you with that.

I also think this subject has come up before check these threads:

Might I suggest that there are other systems out there that will do a
similar job to Pi. It very much depends on your detailed requirements and the balance between product cost and integration and configuration cost. In addition, you mention a lot of data but hard numbers would be better, total tag count and rate, as this impacts some costs and some products have difficulty swallowing high data rates.

Of course, this reply is not totally disinterested - see
www.vista-control.com for another solution.

PI is good and powerfull, but I think it cost too much. You will pay for how many points you create in the system. There is different price for 2000 points and 10,000 points license.

I have experienced on using another similar system from Honeywell, like PHD. You just pay for the system and can build points as many as you want. It is comparable with PI, including robustness and other features.
