Can someone tell me how to calculate the power consumption for the AC motor @ 750watt 110VAC and DC motor @ 160watt 24VDC.many thanks

You had me going for a minute on this one.

It's like asking: Which weighs more: a kilogram of feathers or a kilogram of lead?

By definition, a watt is an expression of power. (Look up watt on wikipedia.org; or Google watt.) For electrical power, it's the amount of work done when one amp flows through an electrical difference of one volt. Watts can be converted to horsepower, which much of the world understands as a unit of power.

If you're trying to understand how much current is drawn by these devices, the formula for electrical power is:

P (Watts) = V (volts) * I (amperes)

So, a 750 watt motor operating at 110 VAC would require approximately 6.81 A (but there are other losses in an AC motor; the power factor of the motor from the motor's nameplate would help with estimating the current more specifically).

A 160 watt motor operating at 24 VDC would required approximately 6.67 A.

But, good try! (The kilo of feathers weighs more, by the way.)

At that size of motor the watt figures might be either output power (most motors) or input power (some types of small motor).

If the rating is for output power you will have to know the efficiency before you can calculate the power consumption. If the rating is for input power, then you already know how much power they consume.

If the information you have doesn't tell you whether the power figures are for power output or power input, you'll have to contact the manufacturer.
