Yes, that's exactly why we need OSS and open hardware and protocols.

It's no problem from your perspective. But if you are in any other capacity, say service, and you need to support a dozen or so brands with no large volume for any particular one, and the older and newer versions, it gets prohibitive quickly. And I remember when the only people who practice the programming they were taught were those who found work with large companies. Now with OSS, the poorest student has the same advantage as the commercial developer.

And the pace of technology would be far slower with programming as a rich man's privilege.
