Re-usable ladder logic templates

I know of many electronic books which show how to build various circuits such as amplifiers or power supplies. I would like to know if there are any books that list ladder logic rungs for building projects such as a three pump waste-water lift station?

dear peter,
I have read your question in control.com. i think there is no book for PLC ladder logic programming. basics are same but logic instructions are varies depends on PLC make.if we want to develop ladder logic, we first select make of the PLC and then develop ladder for that particular make. i am very familiar to develop ladder logic in A-B make PLC. if your willing pl. sent to me a logic for your operation, i will develop ladder for that.
if you want to develop your ladder programme, one PLC software is available in web, it's very useful for develop your contol logix skills.
details are diven below

picosoft 3.0

you pl. download from above said web address.it is only used for allen-bradley make pico controller(PLC). if you have any doubt about pico, pl.mail to me. my mail id are "[email protected]", mailto:[email protected] and "[email protected]", mailto:[email protected]

Responding to Peter Crowell's query (Tue, Aug 20, 10:22 am):

At least for the last 50 years, motor starter panel vendors like GE, SqD, A-B, etc, provided schematic diagrams covering a host of pump-sequence circuits, They can easily be converted to ladder-logic.

My question is an ethical one.... in a world where programmers insist on payment in perpetuity for "original work", would such conversion be
considered copyright infringement?

I would think not unless there is some language about permissable use in the documentation. I think it's implicit that they provide the information to facilitate using their equipment. In other words, if you're a customer I think this is fair use. If you use them for a competitors equipment, it should still be fair use as it _is_ published. There is also the consideration that copyright only covers the document and I don't see how this could be construed as copying the document. Now, if they were granted a patent for
sequencing pumps with switches........

Can these circuits even be considered "original work" ? They have been widely used for years.

Gentlepersons:
I was trying to be facetious! Just needling the programmmmer folks!

But, at the same time I was also trying to provide a direction toward a possible (practical?) solution.
