How can I rename a machine, i.e. change its computer name after installing Microsoft SQL such that the SQL also works after the renaming?

Actually I have a riunning OS machine and I want to replicate it to make OS2 in a PCS7 setup.

 

We attempted to rename several OS machines last year after a customer IT department mandated a name change on all platforms. Finally had to archive off the licenses, reload the computers from scratch, and then put licenses back on to the newly named computer.
