If your hard drive crashed and you lost your licenses, the easiest solution is just to call Rockwell tech support. They will fix you right up.

If the hard disk is "recovered", then you should be able to place the key floppy diskettes (assumed older evrsi security). There is a program on the key diskette called evmovew.exe that you run and it will ask you "From C to A" or wherever you have the keys , D, E drive etc. to A or B floppy. When you move them the system should run again if you got everything installed.

If the hard drive was crashed, you can go to www.rockwellautomation.com and go to the support page and there is a place to reset the keys on the diskettes and then install them on the new computer.

Dear, plz note that generally licenses are lost ones the hard disk is crashed (???). But don't worry, if your hard disk has been restored just install and run the License transfer program supplied by Rockwell ( I don't remember its name) and try to recover license from hard disk by moving them to floppy disk.

Otherwise you may have to contact Rockwell automation helpline for further recovery process and do not get panicked, generally replacement licenses are resent to you by the OEM( Rockwell) once they are assured that you have proof of purchase (license number usually).

And one more thing, in case you are wondering what do abt it immediately, open your the license floppy, it may have an emergency license that runs for a specific period (one week or so) till the new is received by you. Only thing is that the license floppy will open only with the authorized license program, which you might have installed after discovery of hard disk otherwise install it from Rockwell CD or just download it from their web page, this is applicable for all licenses (RS Logix, RSLinx and RS View) good luck!!

Assuming you have the original disks you can use EVReset and get the reset codes off the Rockwell Website. This will rebuild the licenses on these disks.

If you do not have the original disks you will have to contact Rockwell and ask them for replacement licenses.

The AB folks have never given me grief on a system crash situation It will save quite a bit of time and messing around to give them a call. Once your primary is running, there is a utility to move the license to a floppy.
