P PhilCorso Oct 13, 2004 #2 Responding to Salatoo's Tue, Oct 12, 8:50pm query... are you asking: "What size capacitor is required to operate a 3-phase motor on a single-phase supply?" Regards, Phil Corso, PE {Boca Raton, FL, USA} [[email protected]] ([email protected])

D deltateam Oct 13, 2004 #3 you need a capacitor of 70µF/kW to convert a 3~ to 1~ motor but i don't have the precise formula. attention the power of the motor decrease about ~20% and you have more thermal losses.
