Hello,
I am in the process of translating a FactoryTalk View Studio application into Spanish and am running into an issue. It seems that for line status and alarm messaging the HMI pulls specific UDT values that contain string messages built into the PLC logic. I would like to mimic the same structure and create alternate UDT that is the Spanish translation for the messages but every time I use a special character (Tilde, Acute, Umlaut) I get an Error (String invalid) when I use a MOV command to set the string value. I have no problem with strings that do not have special characters. From what I have read this should be possible, but the errors are pretty clear cut. Does anyone know if special characters like these can be used in a string register, or if I have to do something special in order to make it work.
I can rework the program to send these messages in a different form as FactoryTalk View Studio has no problem utilizing them, but I am trying to keep the same basic structure as the original program.
