I'm having problems setting up communication using kepware OPC server for Unitelway, to TSX P87 425 PLC.

Does it matter which 232/485 converter I use?

 

Hi, Depending on the PLC you will be using, the TSX SCA 72 converter may not work. The TSX SCA 72 requires that the PC control the switching of the RS-485 transmitter/receiver on and off. This is done using the RTS line from your serial port. We have found that PLCs like the TSX37 respond so quickly to our Unitelway (slave) driver, the windows communication driver is not fast enough to effectively control the TSX SCA 72s RS-485 line converter.

Schneider Automation (Electric) makes a modem cable that should work. The cable was designed for devices which do not manage the RTS signal. The part # is: TSX PCX 1030.
