I'm new to programming, but I'm busy restoring a vw beetle and want to make it high-tech. I know how to write the program up to the communication with the pic 16f690

I'm going to put a touch screen in the car and when I press for instance "start engine " it must tell the pic to go high on pin 3 of the pic or whichever pin. I use visual basic and have read that using rs232 is the way to go.

If i have an example I'll figure the rest out. The recieving end side (pic program)would also benefit greatly if I had an example.

Sounds stupid, I know but your help would be appreciated,

At www.modbus.pl you can find Modbus RTU slave example for PIC microcontroller and VB Modbus RTU Master project for communication with the slave over RS232.
