I am trying to come up with a full data strategy for a solar (or wind) power plant. I think I need to consider the data path like:
sensors and intelligent devices wired to
-I/O modules networked to
-a data logger or data server that passes data through
-cellular routers that are part of
-a cellular APN network of power plants where data then goes into
-a web-application version of a SCADA package
Users with various data needs can log into this system to get the data they need. The SCADA package can handle alarming/trending/HMI needs/etc.
Is this a solid model?
What should I look at for the data logger / data server piece that needs to buffer data against network problems and package data effectively for transfer onward?
How should the data be ultimately stored to archive and to allow the SCADA access to "near real time" data? A database? Or will the SCADA package come with data storage?
For the purposes of discussion, think of each router (plant access point) passing through 500 points of analog data every 5 seconds.
Thanks,
Josh
