It’s almost impossible to talk about automation without mentioning something involving the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). With data monitoring available in real-time from our laptops, phones, or tablets, devices such as the DXMR90-1XE from Banner allow this data to be converted to a unified protocol and distributed from their respective devices to an internal logic controller and push that information to the palm of our hands.

Data Monitoring on Four Networks

With the DXMR90-X1E series industrial controller, data can be monitored from multiple sources across up to four independent networks. Data collected from these networks can be consolidated into a single data signal, allowing for the data for real-time 24/7 condition monitoring, which allows for specific issues to be addressed immediately. This device not only enables local data processing but also ensures seamless connectivity for host systems, making it an essential platform for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The DXMR90-X1E features dual 100 Mbps Ethernet ports with M12 D-coded connections for robust networking. It supports Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and Profinet protocols. The controller also includes four individual Modbus client connections, each with customizable baud rates and parity settings. Additionally, a 2-wire RS-485 physical transceiver provides independent control for each connection. The controller is compatible with various internet protocols, including RESTful API and MQTT, offering flexibility for web services from AWS and compatibility with MQTT Sparkplug B for efficient data handling and communication.

Flexibility In Programming.

Banner has given some flexibility in programming the DXMR90-X1E by using action rules, ScriptBasic, or MicroPython programming languages. This versatility allows users to create customized solutions that fit various applications for their industry's individual needs, enhancing user control and device interaction, which can improve overall efficiency in their operations.

On a more technical level, the DXMR90-X1E supports action rules for automation and logic processing. It enables users to define conditions and responses, such as IF/THEN/ELSE thresholds with timers, control logic, or push data on conditions. ScriptBasic allows for manipulating variables, arrays, and functions while integrating register mapping for device communication. Additionally, the device facilitates Modbus/TCP client capabilities, providing the ability to read and write rules to both wired and wireless devices within a network, ensuring robust data management.

With the industrial mindset of data-driven decisions, the DXMR90-1XE will allow manufacturers or logistics specialists to make decisions before critical part failures that can interrupt production or shipments from within their facilities. With its compact design and flexibility in communication protocols, Banner has allowed automation through somewhat of an overlay network by using their Snap Signal portfolio for easy and quick data consumption and distribution that is easily adaptable for almost any industrial application.
