Industrial and Building Automation Systems (BAS)

Smart buildings and BAS integrate automation into large buildings, such as industrial facilities, malls, office buildings, and apartment buildings. A control system handles building-wide tasks, such as balancing heating and cooling loads, fire suppression and alarm systems, elevator control, hot water heating, lighting, security, and other such tasks. A well-designed BAS might turn off lights when motion sensors detect an empty room, and it may schedule heating or cooling an hour before it is typically occupied.

Hsyco Supervision Platform

The Hsyco supervision platform simplifies system integration by providing a holistic automation control solution. It is an open platform, versatile enough to integrate with other components, while also prioritizing security. Accessible through a web interface, the platform simplifies remote monitoring and control of the building.

With the supervision platform, users can analyze operational data to identify patterns and create advanced scheduling routines and predictive maintenance of hardware, such as HVAC components. Additionally, several commonly used protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, and KNX, support the platform's communication.

Outside of BAS, companies have used Hsyco's supervision platform in manufacturing, industrial facilities, and commercial applications. Inventory monitoring, cold room storage control, and other such tasks are well-suited for this platform.

Tektelic LoRaWAN Gateways

Hsyco and Tektelic's partnership focuses on integrating Tektelic's LoRaWan gateways. LoRaWan gateways act as nodes between LoRaWan devices and network servers, extending the effective range and ensuring fast, efficient communication. By integrating the gateway, Tektelic's robust suite of sensors can be used with the Hsyco supervision platform.

Tektelic has built its gateways to meet carrier-grade standards (99.999% uptime), making them reliable for essential operations in industrial, commercial, and residential applications. Depending on the application, LoRaWan networks can extend up to 20 km from the gateway; a large port facility, refinery, or apartment complex can all connect to the same LoRaWan network.

Cold Room Supervision and Flood Detection

Tektelic and Hsyco’s partnership was tested with two specific case applications.

In one case, Hsyco's supervision platform was paired with a Tektelic KONA Micro IoT gateway to manage a cold storage facility. The gateway was connected to temperature and humidity sensors across multiple cold rooms. If the temperature or humidity exceeded programmed thresholds, alerts were sent via SMS, email, Telegram, and other notification systems. It also generated a monthly report highlighting excursions and operating conditions.

In another tested application, the same hardware and supervision platform were used in conjunction with Tektelic's LoRaWAN leak detection sensors to detect leaks in a mission-critical area. The sensors continuously monitored for flooding conditions so that if flooding was detected, the system would automatically change the position of valves to stop the flow.
