Cubeseries Industrial Relay Modules

Weidmüller’s Cubeseries industrial relay modules provide standard relay function with many of the nice features that one cannot truly appreciate until they have been installed. Wiring is made simple and installation quick, with push-in and screw connections available. According to Weidmüller, its push-in connection technology can reduce wiring time by up to 50%, all without the need for any tools to perform the connections. There are also multiple options for diverse cross connections, meaning more ways to interconnect relays into existing hardware.

Besides wiring simplicity, the Cubeseries industrial relay modules also have improved amp ratings compared to Weidmüller’s previous relay modules. This allows system designers more flexibility in designs without the need to rethink or increase the footprint of the control drastically.

For testing and troubleshooting, there are Cubeseries variants with different diagnostic LEDs built into the housing. Furthermore, many variants have a locking test button, making it simple to test a module when troubleshooting a more complex control system. The modules also have easily accessible test traps for quickly verifying that a relay is operating correctly with a multimeter.

The Cubeseries industrial relay modules are available in two ranges: CRI relays with a 16 mm width for one or two changeover contacts and CRM relays with a 27 mm width for two or four changeover contacts

Relay Contact Versions

The Cubeseries is available in two separate series lines, the CRI and CRM. The CRI relays are more compact, at 16 mm in width, and are designed for rapid switching of small industrial loads, with 1 or 2 changeover contacts. The CRM relays are 27 mm in width but have more space for contacts and connections (2 or 4 changeover contacts). All models are available with optional accessories, such as cross-connection contacts, LED modules, protection modules, and other such hardware. Furthermore, both the CRI and CRM series are UL listed and CSA approved for both the United States and Canadian markets.

The Cubeseries industrial relays will now be produced in the United States. While the components are still manufactured in Europe, starting this month, assembly, testing, and verification will be performed in the Richmond, VA, plant. A new kitting and case packaging machine will make it possible to ship relays directly to customers from Weidmüller’s Richmond facility.

Industrial Control Systems

Weidmüller’s relays were designed to be application independent. Their versatile yet standardized design means they are a good fit with nearly any existing industrial control system. Automation engineers can design systems that use higher current without drastically increasing the footprint of the hardware. With easy wiring and key features that make testing quick and painless, the Cubeseries relay modules will likely see use in many manufacturing and industrial control systems.
