Yaskawa Moves Towards HVAC and Building Automation of the Future With Latest Release

September 11, 2020 by Alessandro Mascellino

Yaskawa America released a new family of variable speed drivers and packages.

The HV600 series offers high contrast display and connectivity and Android and iOS mobile devices' support via a dedicated app. It builds on the expertise of the company's Z1000 series, improving ease of use and adding advanced functions.

The HV600 Series: Main Features

The new variable speed drivers feature a high-resolution multi-language display with setup wizards and data logging to facilitate outdoor uses.

The DriveWizard Mobile app allows for immediate connection on Android and iOS devices, providing QR code scan capabilities, real-time operation via USB or Bluetooth, and inverter parameters backup on YASKAWA Drive Cloud.

Programming without main power is also possible via the embedded USB port, and embedded BAS protocol communications have improved since the Z1000 series. The HV600 series also offers additional features, such as advanced control for induction, permanent magnet, and synchronous reluctance motors.

An integrated EMC filter is also included in every purchase for RF conformance and a 5% impedance for power quality.

What Can You Find in the HV600 Series?

The HV600 series consists of industrial automation equipment such as low and medium voltage variable speed drives, servo motors, and amplifiers. The company's Motoman Robotics Division makes industrial robots that can weld, assemble, cut, and handle manufacturers' goods.

Yaskawa products are used in various industries, including automotive, building automation, machine tool, and material handling. Also, metal forming, packaging, pumping, water/wastewater treatment, plastics, rubber, solar, irrigation, and textile.

As far as the new variable speed drivers and packages are concerned, Yaskawa America said the components could be used in various industrial scenarios.

Ranging from simple fan control with integrated BAS communication to advanced bypass control, or multiplex pump control, the HV600 series offers a wide range of variable speed needs and configurations.

Versatile Configurations

Yaskawa America's HV600 Bypass and Configured packages come in Narrow UL Type 1 and Enclosed UL Type 1, 12, and 3R versions, with various power and control options reaching up to 100 kA SCCR.

To ensure complete synchronization of drive and bypass, all packages include a highly integrated bypass controller with electronic motor overload and single-point access for all power connections, control connections, and configuration settings.

Standalone HV600 drives are available in 208-240 VAC (3 to 100 HP) models and 480 VAC (3 to 250 HP) models.  On the other hand, bypass and Configured packages are available in 208 and 240 VAC (0.5 to 100 HP) models and 480 VAC (0.75 to 250 HP) models.

For more information about individual configurations and packages, you can check out the HV600 drives datasheet.
