Eagerly looking for information about any non OEM Support on SEMIPOL SFC which is an ex Converteam/Alstom product but now taken over by GE. This excitation system is mainly supplied through Siemens generators.

Hello,

I am looking for advice from engineers who have experience with Converteam / Alstom SEMIPOL D3.1 excitation systems, particularly the SPU232.2 processor board.

Our customer specification requires:

  • Hardware revision: Rev.16
  • BIOS: V1.2.17
However, the replacement board supplied to us is:

  • Hardware revision: Rev.05
  • BIOS: V1.2.11
The board is intended for use in an existing SEMIPOL D3.1 excitation system.

I would appreciate any information regarding the following:

  1. What are the actual hardware differences between SPU232.2 Rev.05 and Rev.16?
  2. Are Rev.05 and Rev.16 functionally interchangeable in a SEMIPOL D3.1 system?
  3. Are there any known compatibility issues between BIOS V1.2.11 and V1.2.17?
  4. Does the BIOS version affect only board startup/POST, or can it affect the SEMIPOL application software, VME communication, Profibus or other peripheral boards?
  5. Can BIOS V1.2.17 safely be installed on a Rev.05 board?
  6. Does anybody have a hardware revision history, ECO/ECN, PCN, BIOS release notes or compatibility matrix for SPU232.2?
  7. Has anyone personally replaced a later Rev.16 board with an earlier revision such as Rev.05?
If relevant, the board part number is SPU232.2 / 029.366.817.

I am particularly interested in field experience from engineers who have worked with Converteam SEMIPOL D3/D3.1 systems.

Any documentation or practical experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
