Hi all,
I would like some of the Aerosapce industry pros to please give some advice on what positions are there available for Electrical Engineers with Controls major and is it true that Aerospace industry engineers are underpaid compared to other industries? Also how(where) applicable is the job experience outside of Aerospace?(in case of downturns )

Any input appreciated
thanks

What aerospace industry?
It will take a lot more years of defense spending before we have anything like the aerospace industry we once had. We have beaten our swords into plowshares and outsourced munitions to potential adversaries and trail the world in
launch vehicles. Not a good sign.

I don't know about the pay in the Aerospace industry, but I can say this with certainty:

When business is good, it's very very good. And when it's bad, it is terrible. In other words, always have an exit strategy in your back pocket.

One guy I know did very well for himself with a Masters degree in mechanical engineering. But he got tired of the boom and bust cycles that seem to hit the aerospace industry every few years or so. And thus he went from being a very good "rocket scientist" to yet another patent lawyer.

The work in Aerospace can be interesting and a lot of fun from what I hear. If you are interested, you would be wise to set your salary demands in line with the history of insecurity such positions typically have.

Good Luck!
