We are facing problem while digging n an old establishment , the various criss crossed HT /Lt old cablesare found. How to detect whether they are live or dead? Any device or equipment available?

While digging new cable trenches in an old plant we often come accros he old burried cables under ground with no traces of ends & it is very difficult to find whether they are live or dead , so that can be removed suitably.If there is any easy method of identifying the live cables among te bunch of old cables? with or without any instrument? any equipment easy & handy available in market?

you can detect the magnetic field by using a gauss meter, if the underground utility is carrying current. Be Aware, it is an estimated & predicted methods, be careful in your operation
